This is the U.S., we're more prone to virus than anywhere else. We're in the top 3 in terms of population, tourism, travel, and number 1 of course in liberties and immigration. Everyone is trying to come here or return here and people can protest all they want during a pandemic, so that doesn't help with combating a virus. This is just something we have to accept if you want to live in the absolutely most desired country on the planet.
But as of now, there's UK, Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, with higher deaths per captia than us. So...take that as you will. We're near the very top with tests per capita and ahead of everyone with recoveries. More recoveries and tests than any other nation bar none. Cases doubled but deaths are around 1/3rd their peak and tests and recoveries have skyrocketed. Cases are being used against Trump so you gotta take that with a grain of salt because they're marking people down along with people they had contact with, and the deaths are likely lower than what's being advertised as well. That being said, it is a deadly virus to elderly and unhealthy. So just keep away from them. 80% of deaths are 65 and up. The average age of victim in 75 (life expectancy is 78!) 30 children dead. That's just 1/5th of 1 percent with the illness dead!
Masks buy you a little extra distance, maybe 3ft (but 8ft is ideal), BUT people wearing them wear them too long and decide they can be closer to others and they touch them constantly which negates any benefit for most people because they're actually just incubating their faces.
