  1. There's going to be a HUGE disaster before a far better system is put in place. That's just how these things work. The catastrophe is coming. It took the Titanic sinking to make seafaring far more safe. Sadly it takes a lot of lives lost to create necessary change. Change is very expensive. What pilots and ATC can do is extremely impressive and respectable, but they're only human and more and more birds will be in the skies as populations increase to the point it looks like a tetris game on level 12.
