  1. Not the first time and always comes down to pushing out ground breaking research for continued funding. Most recent was the big news announcement that true fusion was achieved getting more energy out then put in. It was hyperbole. A just in time achievement or discovery to justify funding… An infamous one is the Bell Labs Jan Schön scandal on semiconductors. Working at Bell Labs, management expects technical achievements in timely matter so they can be apply for a patent. Schön was under pressure to make radical discoveries and forged all the data for years. Maybe some thing needs to change in the process so people as less incline to cheat.
