  1. This perceived success subconsciously lends itself to the "impostor syndrome" some feel whether earned or not. Obvious circumstances like affirmative action and personal contacts and even cheating to get into ivy league schools can lead to other throwing shady on them because they had an advantage they lacked despite putting in the work. "I worked two jobs to get here for years and you get here because your family is rich." Nowadays, it's called privilege rather than luck.
