Only problem with that is I assume at that point his Lt. Gov becomes governor, and for all we know she could be even more radical. The only silver lining is that even if that's the case she can't do much due to the GOP supermajority legislature.

Low turnout off year elections which meant Louisville and Lexington had more sway than usual, plus the BeShear name is legendary in KY since Andy's daddy was also governor. On top of that Matt Bevin was really hated as governor so the nepo baby was able to take advantage of that.

@settame1 Same reason RINOs like Hogan and Baker were governors of deep blue states. Statewide politics can be very different and "weird" compared to nationwide politics, and often times gubernatorial elections come down more to local issues and image rather than the partisan lean of the states.

@deanfirnatine7814 Honestly even before this I think BeShear would've had no chance at winning a Senate seat anyway (even if McConnell wasn't retiring which it looks like he almost certainly will). Like I said in a previous comment, federal politics and statewide politics are very different, and in a Senate election the GOP base would almost certainly actually go out to vote.

@PhilipCockram Outside of surprisingly John Fetterman (compared to Bob Casey anyway) I would tend to agree. It feels like nowadays Dems are in a competition to continuously outdo each other at how bad and evil they are.

He never had one anyway. Democrats would never nominate a governor from a deep red state for president, and KY is so red on the Senate level that he had no chance of getting elected there either.

@hashkangaroo I don't think Beshear would ever win the Dem party nomination for president. The very fact that he's the governor of a deep red state would be enough to make sure many leftists would never support him, regardless of the fact that he's a crazed leftoid himself.

What's crazy is that Dems have even admitted they purposely haven't moved the KY gov races to presidential years precisely because they know they'd never had a chance if they did so. BeShear and other Dems like him only win in the state because of luck and a BS and outdated election schedule.
