You'd be surprised how many Republicans I argue with who legitimately think he's either just as good if not even better than Trump all because he's against forced vaccinations, as if that's the ONLY issue that matters....

@BurnDoubt I still stand by my opinion that Ross Perot was easily one of the best presidents we never had and that the world would be SO much better off had he won the 1992 election. If only he hadn't dropped out in the summer... he might've actually had a serious shot to win if the polling around that time was to be believed.

@hello-cn5nh People only considered him "annoying" because he was speaking the truth about things like NAFTA and the military industrial complex LONG before the rest of America caught onto how these things were either terrible ideas or being severely abused, and thus they mocked him and thought he was just a crazy man. If only they had listened... But of course, as history often shows, if you see into the future too early, you're punished for it.

Truth be told Donald Trump and Perry Johnson are pretty much the only two people in this entire 2024 field that I'd even remotely trust to lead our country, and even of those two Trump is still by far the best option. Everyone else is either just "meh" at best, talks a good game but is either unproven and/or has deal breaking policies that make it impossible to support them, or is just flat out awful.
3
Biden was also a supposedly "likable" person in 2020... And look where that's gotten us...
2
@mikeslemonade The fact that you weren't fully on board with Trump to begin with is sad. He's pretty much the ONLY person in the entire 2024 field who fundamentally understands how much in dire straits America is and what we need to do to fix it.
2
I mean hey, he can't be any worse than the clown we have in the White House right now. Not that that's a high bar or anything...
2
That's not gonna happen but I'd certainly LMFAO if it did.

Some Republicans are still mad at Trump over the COVID situation and in particular the vaccine, which is basically the entire mantra of RFK and why many conservatives have gotten hoodwinked by him, his anti-forced jab comments and his comments against Fauci. Those are the Trump voters he'll take away. But I also think this will be balanced by him taking away Biden voters who don't like the guy anymore and don't really know anything about RFK Jr. beyond the fact that they loved his Daddy and he's got his name. In other words, I actually think he's not gonna be much of a factor at all in the general election beyond just ensuring neither Trump or Biden win a majority of the vote.

The GOP establishment tried that very argument against Trump in 2016. It didn't work then, and it sure as hell isn't gonna work now. Trump proved through his administration and his rhetoric that even in spite of his past liberal associations that he's far more based and intelligent than at least 98% of Republican office holders today, and even with that number I'm probably being way too nice to the worthless spineless establishment GOP.

@kennysdead500 Gary Johnson was kind of a wash though, given that a lot of his voters surprisingly actually went for Biden 4 years later.
1
@RobbinWilliams-uy5mz I mean, one could make a reasonable argument that the only reason Biden won WI, PA and GA in particular (absent voter f-word, of course) was because the Dems literally kicked the Green Party off the ballot in most of the crucial states which meant that less overall people who wanted to vote for Howie Hawkins instead of Joe Biden couldn't have done so. We'll never know of course how 2020 would've gone had that not happened, but there certainly is a strong case that the Dems basically only won 2020 by stamping out their opposition. Yet people get upset when Republicans suggest kicking Libertarians off the ballot LOL.
1
@settame1 I don't disagree, I even said "absent voter f-word" in my comment, that f-word being precisely what you're referring to in your comment (yes I know YouTube changed their policy regarding the election, but even still given the history of the platform and the fact that I'm still seeing many shadow banning/censorship cases I'm not taking any chances nonetheless). I was just making an argument that, even with the rampant voter f-word, we VERY WELL still could've won 2020 had the Dems not successfully kicked Howie Hawkins off the ballot in several critical states.

RFK may very well be the strongest overall independent candidate since Ross Perot. So many talk about how he'll either "hurt Trump" or "hurt Biden", but truth be told I think he'll get about an equal portion of the vote from both sides of the aisle. He's not gonna get anywhere close to actually winning, of course, but what he WILL do is ensure the winner of this election gets the smallest popular vote victory in many, many years.

Look, I hate Biden as much as the next person who isn't tainted by leftism probably does, but engaging in the notion that he's somehow not gonna be the nominee at this point is just a pure cope. His ONLY somewhat formidable challenger he had is now running as an independent, and even though Biden is hated by much of America for what he's done to the country, he still has the strong support of his corrupt party's establishment and the approval of at least 75-90% of registered Dems (depending on the polling aggregate you look at). Unless the guy dies tomorrow, he's getting renominated and renominated very easily. Trump himself knows this which is why he's already been pivoting to the general election since he's also got his own party's nomination locked up.

@meanderinoranges Richard Baris is absolutely not on the left at all and even he says that RFK will take away some of Trump's votes.

@Ziegfried82 I think ultimately the big problem with MN is the fact that it's easily one of the most politically engaged states in the entire country, the Dems in particular are pretty much always super motivated to vote no matter what the national environment looks like or how bad an incumbent Dem president is (and this was demonstrated not just last year but even as far back as 2010, when Dems still easily flipped back the governorship despite Republicans kicking ass throughout almost all the rest of the country). This fact alone makes it very hard for Republicans to win the state even in years in which rural Republicans are angry and motivated as hell to get out there and vote. I think pretty much the only way we'd be able to crack MN is through a lucky combination of the Dems picking someone so terrible that even the Twin Cities Dems refuse to turn out for them, and also us having a candidate who can get the rurals out in droves and make them vote more similarly to rural areas in states like Alabama or my own state, Wyoming.

RFK was polling consistently in double digits during the Dem primary, and many Dem voters are hungry for any Biden alternative, so I think he definitely can peel off some Biden voters. Mostly it'll be older, boomer Democrats who hate Biden but have nostalgia for the Kennedy last name.
1
@keithhutchins8803 LOL, I rarely ever watch Styx anymore, only every once in a blue moon do I check on what he says if he has something noteworthy to talk about. And in any case again, the Dem primary data shows otherwise (they were specifically polling registered Democrats and RFK Jr. never polled any less than 7 percent against Biden in even his least favorable polls). I'm not saying he's gonna win like 50% of Democrats or something insane like that, but he absolutely will get probably at least 10% of them, and to deny that is just cope. You underestimate just how many people vote purely based on name ID and nostalgia.
1
@keithhutchins8803 I know you are, but what am I?
1
@keithhutchins8803 LOL, this is maybe like the 5th Styx video I've watched, let alone commented on all year. There are many, MANY political channels I prefer to watch way more than him, I only tune in these days if I'm curious to hear his take on a certain topic, and this was one of those times.

Oz was a garbage candidate, but still light-years better than Fetterman.
1
I mean to be fair that's not exactly his fault, people can't help it if they have a certain defect they're born with, though I do nonetheless understand that line of thinking. RFK shouldn't get anywhere near the presidency regardless anyway just for his stance on climate change alone. Dude literally makes AOC look reasonable on it!
