Comments by "NickTheEnlightened" (@NickTheEnlightened) on "MAGA or Nothing: I Will Abandon the GOP if They Return to the Old "Normal"" video.
Many of the people simping for DeSantis are quick to forget that 1) He owes his governorship in the first place to Trump bailing his a** out, and 2) Many people voting solidly GOP now are only doing so BECAUSE of Trump! Take him out of the equation and his base will either just stay home altogether or even vote Dem out of spite.

@kylevernon Literally every single Republican you named in your comment is/was a RINO...
29
@captainblue2344 Obviously at some point we'll have to cobble together a post Trump MAGA movement, but right now he's our main guy and until or if the GOP can find someone better, people like me are sticking by him.
26
@captainblue2344 Look at where the GOP underperformed the most in this cycle: The rurals. A lot of the "muh suburbs" the loser right holds in high regard as the barometer of everything DID shift rightward this year, but rural turnout was so down across the board to where it didn't matter too much, especially in the case of PA. Even if you manage to move a few swing voters rightward by running "moderates", it's all for naught if you can't excite your core base. And the reality is that a lot of the people who vote against Trump because of "mean tweets" will never vote for us again anyway and are already a lost cause. The demographics of Tarrant County, TX are not the same as they were in the early 2000's; we'd never win 70+% of the vote there ever again even if we ran freaking BUSH again for crying out loud!

Hence why everyone needs to be skeptical of the guy. If he's such a MAGA guy who is willing to fight the establishment, why does he have clowns like Paul Ryan backing him?
8
@manofcultura You definitely won't be the only one. And then of course I'm sure the GOP will then once again blame Trump and say he didn't do enough to help their pathetic RINO candidates.
5
@triggerwarning5762 Frankly anyone still praising McConnell and McCarthy after how Tuesday went is a lost cause.
4
As well as Momma's Boy McCarthy. When you have clowns like him, McConnell and McDaniel running the party, it's no wonder we can't ever win elections.
4
@Cosdoc30 Whilst I do agree that the term "RINO" itself is a bit overused and isn't always accurate, all of the "Republicans" Kyle listed in his comment, including the ones he was trying to praise as an exemplar of conservatism, were RINO's and have done nothing but long term harm to the GOP.
3
Probably, and I absolutely think Graham is a worthless deep state snake, but even still I'd still say that speaks more of the state of our country and how dumb and naive many voters are.
2
THANK YOU for pointing this out, this is exactly what I've been trying to remind people! State politics are a very, VERY different ballgame from federal politics! Just because you're a good governor of a state doesn't always translate to the national level!
2
@la_sn3ak3r19 Yes they CAN, but the precise issue is that they're NOT doing that. They're already talking about how excited they are to work with the Dems...
1
Don't forget a lot of these same people are the never Trump losers who have always been looking for any and all excuses to blame them for their failures.
1
@adlucem9845 Name ONE thing the establishment GOP is actually doing to stop the communism (and globalism) beyond just the occasional lukewarm speech and screaming "Let's Go Brandon!" on social media.
1
Pretty much all they're good at doing. As one person so eloquently put it, the GOP really is the party of "beautiful losers".
1
Because McConnell and the other clowns running the Republican party are useless. They have no problem letting certain candidates in purple states hang out to dry if said candidates are those who push against their narrative!
1
It absolutely is a failure given the way things are in this country right now and how much Biden is hated. The fact that we're only gonna just BARELY take back the House even with everything going on is an absolute disgrace. Anyone who says otherwise is merely coping.
1
Republicans 25 years ago: "Bush is a great governor of Texas, he's going to be a fantastic president and a savior of our nation!" Yeah.... That aged so well, didn't it?
1
And you don't think DeSantis would appoint those very same clowns in his administration?
1
2026, though hopefully the turtle retires!
1
@josephmoore5949 Are you hopelessly naive? You must always, ALWAYS judge a politician by who is funding and endorsing them!
1
Yep, Joe O'Dea was so pathetic he even caused Lauren Boebert to almost lose (FTR I'm aware she's more than likely still gonna eke it out, but even still the very fact that we almost lost that race just proves how godawful of a nominee O'Dea really was).
1
Daily reminder that Hillary would very likely be our president right now if a certain Orange Man whose supporters you're mocking didn't inspire people in Middle America to get out and vote.
1
He may not even run.
1
You're actually shocked by that? Shapiro's been an establishment hack for years now.
1
@Symbrio Well and I highly doubt those feelings were super sincere anyway. I believe Shapiro knew he had to pretend to be a massive Trump supporter during his presidency because he knew that otherwise his viewership would've collapsed.
1
@Billy-bd2oe Well if Lake "loses" in AZ, she almost certainly won't be on a major ticket.
1
@jaerys8823 DeSantis's simps started the GOP war in the first place by bashing Trump and saying that we need to move on from him and the movement he created, the movement that might I add is the ONLY reason why the rust belt ever became competitive in the first place and why Ohio and Iowa are safe red states now!
1
@avaethan6259 Trump can easily win in 2024 if enough of the base gets behind him first off, and secondly even if he couldn't DeSantis is an unproven figure who more than likely doesn't have the same strength Trump did in the Rust Belt and is being backed by much of the same GOP establishment shills who hate us and are doing everything possible to work with Dems to make life hell for us. Honestly I'm getting Dubya vibes from DeSantis. The very fact that the same never Trumpers who so loudly opposed him in 2016 are cheering him on now should spark a massive red flag in the eyes of many.
1
@cinystarr4657 Well neither would I (I more than likely would fall in the former of the two camps I mentioned), but certainly many others will.
1
@jaerys8823 Because DeSantis represents the very thing those simping for him want and also because in a primary battle attacks are inevitable anyway. Fact of the matter is that DeSantis is being pushed on us by the GOP establishment, and if he truly does have presidential ambitions he better be prepared to combat Trump or else risk being destroyed the same way Ted Cruz did.
1
@legitenoughtoquit Doesn't matter, he campaigned for and helped DeSantis down the stretch and got him barely over the finish line against someone who later turned out to be a methhead, even after the media was trying to paint DeSantis as an evil "raycist" (remember the whole "monkey up" controversy? It's also amazing how all the people who say that the media won't attack Ron the way they did Trump have already forgotten about that as well. DeSantis damn near lost in 2018 because of the hysteria surrounding that comment!).
1
@FlaMan991 I genuinely don't get why people like you seem stuck on this idea that 2024 is the only time DeSantis can ever run for president. Dude's only gonna be 50 in 2028 and it's not like extremely popular governors like him fade away so easily...
1
@jaerys8823 Well you can look at his congressional record for one thing (people keep forgetting that was a thing that happened at one point in time- DeSantis being a congressman from Florida) and his terrible votes on trade (which will kill him in the rust belt), immigration, and other similar matters. His record in Congress was not that of a MAGA fighter.
1
@FlaMan991 Well then who do you propose should run instead that would actually take on the system and excite Middle America the same way Trump did? I legit can't think of one!
1
@GeorgeSpencer985 Exactly. Remember when the left was treating Florida as if it was a backwards Jim Crow state after Ron was first elected not just because he beat a black man but also because of his "monkey up" comments? The idea that the media would be any kinder to Ron than they were to Trump has no basis in reality!
1
@FlaMan991 Don't dodge the question, Jon. Who do you think should run instead of Trump?
1
@GeorgeSpencer985 Well clearly with everything going on now, a Trump/DeSantis ticket is not happening.
