So glad to see the comeback of based Sarah Palin! Everyone loves to say that she was a big reason for McCain's loss, but in all actuality I truly believe that if she weren't on his ticket, his sorry RINO a** would've performed even worse than he actually did. Palin might've been the only person helping keeping him above 150 EV's.

@Right-Is-Right Yeah, that's Styx unfortunately showing his boomer side as per usual.

I'm sure you're definitely not alone in that. Had she not been on his ticket McCain's sorry a** might've lost Georgia, Montana, Missouri, and potentially even the Dakotas since they were also within 10 points in 2008!

Palin's running for House, not the Senate. Luckily for the Senate race they've got Kelly Tshibaka who is just as great if not arguably even better.

@expo2000000 Not a significant amount of them, and any positive crossover appeal McCain may have had from a Lieberman pick would've been significantly drowned out by many more Republicans just either flat out staying home or even voting for Obama just out of spite.

Kinda doubt it seeing as how failed VP picks rarely ever get chosen again, though who knows? I certainly would not be opposed to such a ticket.

@generalawareness101 How so? McCain was just an absolutely goddawful and embarassing nominee. He would've lost in a Barry Goldwater style landslide had he picked someone just as liberal as him.
4
Absolutely not. If anything Palin was sort of the precursor to Trump.
3
Yep, I've said for a while now that in many ways she was the early version of Trump.
3
She certainly helped him barely hold onto states like Montana and Georgia, and her presence on the ticket is pretty much the only reason Missouri stayed in the GOP column that year and lost its bellwhether status.
3
Yep, without Palin McCain would've almost certainly lost Missouri, Montana and Georgia and would've been VERY lucky to even hold onto the Dakotas.

But unlike Noem, she's actually based and a real fighter.

Or maybe she realized there is already a populist candidate running against Murkowski in the Senate (Kelly Tshibaka) and wisely decided that it'd be dumb to enter that race and split the anti-Murkowski vote.

Don't worry, Kelly Tshibaka is gonna crush her anyway.

Basement caucus or Dem plant here! Which is it?

He thought having a "hot" woman on his ticket would be all he needed in order to get conservatives to look past his obvious faults and vote for him, plus I think actual conservatives within the party made it clear to him that if he picked Lieberman or even just a clone of himself like Mitt Romney, McCain's loss would've been akin to a 1964 style beatdown.

FYI loser McCain didn't even want Palin as his running mate; he was seriously wanting Democrap Joe Lieberman at one point. He only budged and went with Palin once the more conservative Republicans warned him that if he picked someone more like him, he'd lose in a historic landslide (and considering how badly he already lost in our timeline even with Palin, that's saying a lot).

Especially when in many respects, Palin was the only thing keeping McCain's campaign afloat seeing as how the dude had absolutely NO enthusiastic support among the GOP base!
