  25.  @Malacite  This is the problem with assuming that the mainstream political categories of your given education system are somehow "objective" and immutable. Libertarianism is in fact a broad term for those political tendencies opposed to centralized power. It's generally agreed it arose in Europe in response to the emergence of the state, by proto-leftists. And this tradition was carried on by the open leftists I previously mentioned. Socialism has many definitions, but the common agreement among all is: the workers must have control over the means of production. This might involve the state or it might not. Again, I implore you to actually Google "libertarian socialism". It's not a lot to ask given you insist on having opinions about it.

Neoliberalism, as with classical liberal economic policy, is all about the dominance of property and international capital. It's about ensuring 1) market forces dominate all major considerations, and 2) that politics - particularly not that dreaded democratic will (just give Hayek a read) - will not be able to interfere in any meaningful way. Nazism was a reaction to this. It attempted to use the full force of the state to "re-embed" the market, and use this economic power towards their own nefarious ends. It was economic nationalism at its most extreme; just the opposite to international market liberalisation. Note how Nazi propagandists conflated global banking with their sick archetype of the subversive, unpatriotic, malevolent Jew. The Nazi party claimed to personify the "people's will". Fascism was able to become a mass movement because of social destruction wrought by untethered free markets. Just as today, MAGA, Bolsonaro, Golden Dawn, etc. are responding to the bi-partisan decision to let market forces dictate politics. I recommend Quinn Slobodian's history of neoliberalism, as well as Wolfgang Streeck's How Will Capitalism End?

Even before that, you'd have to be a special kind of stupid not to realise Peterson is right wing. I don't know why so many of these tough, no-nonsense fans have difficulty swallowing that simple fact. Perhaps wrap it up in some pastrami?

Marxists see themselves as rational, using theoretical frameworks to understand social relations as a whole. The race realists see themselves as the most rational, as they've abandoned commonplace morality and realise the true underlying reality. Anarchists and libertarians argue that they are rational as their proposals most match up with their (conflicting) conceptions of human nature. And the morons of the IDW claim they're rational because they advocate liberal capitalism, a system currently working to make humanity extinct. Rationality isn't standardised thing with specific policy recommendations attached to it. So, if you want to claim it for "your side", you're going to have to do a little more than simply yell (in the same toddler-esqe way Pinker's Enlightenment Now reads), "it's mine!" And stop acting like everyone's grandpa, with the "you need to think like me before you're allowed to make political decisions". It's just embarrassing.
