My pets are always shelter babies. When my husband died my precious buddy who slept with me stopped doing that. He now sleeps between the doors maybe guarding both? I’m sad to miss him there next to me but letting this unfold if it will. A month ago he was attacked by a bigger dog and hurt very badly. We exercised together. He limps and now shakes when he sees a similar dog. I want him to feel safe again. I think I have some learning to do beyond just loving and reassuring him. He was a high energy guy who went from cage to chasing butterflies in one afternoon years ago.
