  2. Tacitus wrote in Germania that the Germanic people just bargained up until the Romans came. So in Northern Europe we've only been using money since 2000 years at all. It probably took longer though for it to completely integrate. Thing is the assumption is made that everyone was a specialist and therefor -> problems. However most people could do all kinds of things before money was a real thing. They would farm all sorts of food and fish when possible, meaning they could sustain themselves without trade. Anyways money ALLOWED for this kind of hyper specialization where you would only grow one type of food and just sell it, which really wasn't a thing before that.
