I wonder if the Vietnamese had handbooks for this kind of stuff. Would be cool if a Vietnamese could find them and translate them. Although perhaps they’d like to keep the advantage if “liberty” and “democracy” ever come charging in again.

I read some of the parts of FM5-15 of 1944 and watching this video after, that manual now seems awfully suspicious to me. In fact, I think the Americans revamped their entire manual in 1944 BASED on German manuals. Which I assume they extensively researched since they knew a possible invasion of the Third Empire was going to happen some time soon.

Maybe better to focus on one faction and then consider all the different types and the changes over time. You are now forced to generalize and that's usually not good for the transference of real knowledge.

I can physically FEEL your struggle to pronounce English words. Perhaps you could do the videos in German?

Lmao I love the quote at the start! Also thanks for alerting me to this document. 'Hasty firing positions' is a nice part to read for gamers!

It’s a good thing I often forget these things are all about maiming people. Don’t want to imagine being in a formation, within range of the artillery, I’d just wish for a quick death or being that lucky guy that dodged all.

Funny how American Civil War was still Napoleonic tactics. Almost everything you mentioned applies there. The 6-8 pieces per battery, the round types, the smoke, the horses and so forth.

FUNNY thing. The source of this video ‘Gruppe im Gefecht’ by Friedrich Kühlwein is described in the Reibert books for ‘teachers and students’. Same goes for the Reibert books themselves. They were schoolbooks.

Thanks for your work!
