  1. It’s a good thing I often forget these things are all about maiming people. Don’t want to imagine being in a formation, within range of the artillery, I’d just wish for a quick death or being that lucky guy that dodged all.

  2. Funny how American Civil War was still Napoleonic tactics. Almost everything you mentioned applies there. The 6-8 pieces per battery, the round types, the smoke, the horses and so forth.
