  3. The multiverse has absolutely nothing to with with evolution. That is the problem I have with the presentation of the video. He makes it seem like the multiverse is a proven theory like evolution is, but it isn't. It's simply a hypothesis based on some simulations. While evolution has an insane amount of evidence backing it up.

  5. We can’t though. Like explained in the video, people have tried making these climate models in which the influence of CO2 are included. But they’re completely off every time. He uses the example of Irma because you’re also dealing with weather prediction but on a smaller scale and in a smaller timeframe. His argument is that if you can’t predict cloud formation or waterflow in the short term, you certainly can’t simulate the climate of the entire planet over a long term.

  9. IceGuin because in many aspects it kind of is. Which I explained in my direct comments to the video. Life itself is final for individuals as far as we can tell. And people find meaning in passing on their memes or genes to their descendants or other relatives. Thus their memory/meme does live on. And this for many people is enough of a purpose. For many just enjoying the temporary time that’s been given to you is enough. And don’t need a “greater purpose” to be fulfilled. They’ll recognize that we’re simply a result of the mechanisms of the universe (physics, biology, chemistry etc.). So in conclusion. Sure you’re life is final. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it or be left without purpose. I would also like to add that this video gives me the idea that Christianity is simply an excuse for purpose for very nihilistic people that shrug off the beauty of passing down memes and genes, without really giving any arguments.

  12. I don’t get how you can’t see further than a generation. A legacy lasts longer than that. We live on in the sense that we leave our DNA into the human gene pool. And we live on through memes. By passing habits and culture down to the people that come after us. There is nothing spiritual about this either. It’s simply the mark that we leave on this world. And if you work hard enough you can leave a pretty big mark like Einstein did. Would you say Einstein doesn’t live on in our culture? He is long dead but his physics and thoughts are still with us. I can’t believe you’re so nihilistic and naïve that you can’t see this.

Like the fat guy in the white shirt said, you watch sports because that’s where everyone just has fun together regardless of any differences they may have. Should you stop people from bringing politics into sports by law? Hell no, if you want to be a free country you can’t do that. But you can always appeal to them not to do it.

  23. I think the issue with your whole proposition, is that you're assuming the priority of giving an explanation is higher than giving an explanation that is backed by evidence. The multiverse is not yet a proven theory and scientists won't tell you that it is. So it's NOT in the category: "facts discovered by science". It's simply a hypothesis based on calculations and other observations. So it's not fair to make it seem like the multiverse is something similar to things like evolution and gravity. But given these observations, it's the most appropriate theory (not yet fact) that one could propose. This is why scientists will prefer it over "God", because "God" has absolutely no observations going for it, only speculation. Which means the following, scientist DON'T actually BELIEVE in the multiverse, they just think it's likely/possible but will admit any time that it's unproven and can not be seen as fact. While on the other hand Christians or Muslims or whatever DO BELIEVE in God and take vast amounts of time out of their day to worship said God. And then I'll come to the following conclusion. It's a much greater leap to BELIEVE in a God when there are 0 observations or other forms of evidence going for it, than it is to think a multiverse SEEMS POSSIBLE based off a combination of observations of current reality and calculations done with that data. In the end neither of them will answer the question of "who created ...", because if God created the universe, WHO CREATED GOD?! This is a question that will NEVER have an answer. Because in we perceive everything to have an origin. And if something comes from nothing, that is incredibly hard to believe for us. Whether it's possible or not, we don't know and we'll likely never find out.

So I ended up sitting in my room for 3 years because now I am afraid to do something as well. Please parents, don't talk fear into your kids on a regular basis, it's extremely unhealthy.

But all I got was drivel from a person who doesn’t have the gut to admit that these imaginary worlds are a construct of the human mind. A tool to make them feel like everything will turn out fine in the end. Although it might keep up the spirits of people, that doesn’t mean that it’s real.

  29. Actually I'm more surprised that he actually claims scientists believe in a multiverse like they believe in evolution or atomic theory. They simply don't. It's just a theory based on things we know about the world + putting the things we know into a simulation. No scientist will tell you they "believe" in the multiverse, they will probably think it's currently the most likely hypothesis but they won't say it's true. And if they do tell you it's true than they're not worth their "scientist" title, or it's just a personal belief they hold just like religious people believe in God. But it's more likely that they don't actually know that it's true. So I think this gentleman mischaracterizes "scientists".

  34. Quantum theory is actually a working theory, since you can predict outcomes of interactions on an atomic level. But you can't predict the individual interactions them self. You wouldn't think it's magic if you would have cared to read up on how it works. It's not that magical at all, it has a lot to do with probability mathematics.
