  1. From what I can tell the Germans had stretched themselves thin, were low on supplies and arms and pretty much had very little local support. I think if they would've managed to win French hearts a good portion of them would've been willing to fight. But I suppose if all of that was the case then there may have never been an invasion. Plus they were attacked on two fronts.

  5. I'll start by saying that we HAVE a description of Karl the Great, Charlemagne. He was blonde, had blue eyes and was very tall. So stop that brown/black hair brown eyes bullcrap. He looked nothing like southern French look today. He looked very very Germanic because he WAS Germanic, Frankish. The Gauls too were described in the same fashion. So the only swarthy features present in Gaul were Roman, not because the Romans were swarthy, but because the Romans let in tons of foreigners from the entire mediteranean into their empire. And maybe from the Iberians too who eventually also came from Africa.
