If these accounts are true, one must think why. The Norse had morals, they thought badly of murder although not of slaying another in fight. If they truly did these horrid things to all these people, there must’ve been something that really angered them, striking out in wrath. Perhaps the trickery of the merchants turning europeans into christians comes to mind. The honorless slaying of unarmed men. I don’t see any other reason. This was revenge.

@sirsteam181 They adopted it rather quickly? Christianity came to Europe almost at the start of the millennium and then only the elites of the Norse adopted it at the end of that millenium. The folk held onto their ways as much as they possible could. So much so that when it comes to the Franks and Roman Catholicism, that the christians had to accept at some point, after MURDERING those who held onto paganism and BURNING their holy sites down and putting churches on top of it. THAT EVEN THEN people would not let go, so they 'christianized' a lot of traditions by dedicating them to a certain 'saint'. If you ever read a single saga or primary source in your life you'd know that there was a lot of resistance against christianity. They did NOT want to give up their old way of life. This pretty much goes for EVERY Germanic tribe, they all tried to resist, but mainly their leaders were bribed with A LOT of gold (from you know who) AND they used that gold to purchase vasts amount of troops. And even then they had to use dishonorable trickery to best their opponents. (like the aforementioned murder and burning) All these things were good reason for the Norse in their time to despise christians. Your story is one of christian propaganda. This is NOT what happened!

@iapetusmccool Yes. And what I'm saying is, they were actually overstepping their own norms if these accounts are true. And then one must think why they were this brutal to christians.
