  1. I made an 18th century recipe recently not too dissimilar to this which was a meat tart/pie. Really makes you realize how simple food was back in the day, still took me hours to make it. And also, very little of it filled me up quite fast.

  3. Problem is, people used to tan with tannin from treebark, especially oak. But these days most leather is tanned with chemicals.
