There's definitely parallels to us Germanics. The cattle being considered most precious possession, the meeting place out in nature, for us likely under a tree on a hilltop.

To be honest the thing where 'no Africans were invited to' seems to just be a thing of that time. They saw themselves as the victors and strongest political forces, so they decide over what happens in the land. I say this because this happened in Europe too, where larger entities would decide over the fates of smaller ones without their presence. Take the Munich agreement over Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia before WW2 as an example. Or 1815 where the victors redivided Europe and installed new rulers after Napoleons era.

The way you talk is making me cringe.

I think it's unfortunate she comes back home but brings with her the burden of 'equality'. I don't know Somali history but, if this is your tradition try to think of why it exists. Don't let it oppress you but, try and see what the upsides are.

I think it's best to go to such a country with a local in arms. In this case your friend born in Canada is doing an amazing job at being your guide. I'm happy for her that she found back to herself.
