  1. Yes elites are cool and all, but politicians aren't elites. They're often just people with opinions like everybody else that happen to know the right people or know how to get votes well. They're more often than not no expert in law making or in the law, they have people that do that for them. So if anything the populace is just as well equipped to make political decisions as our politicians are.

  2. If you admit you're not an "expert" on this and advocate that only "experts" get to advise and decide... Then why are you sitting here talking as if you DO know the whole picture and the facts. It's really ironic, I'm sorry to say it.
