Prove it. There is no word nor mention of such a thing in any source regarding Norse and other Germanic peoples. The word tattoo is literally a modern borrowing from the Polynesians. If we did tattoo ourselves in the past, we would've had a word for it. We don't.

The depiction of red haired norsemen/germanic people needs to stop. This is often done because 'rutilus', the word in Latin to describe the color of the hair of Germanic peoples, was initially translated to 'red' by some English translators. The issue however is that 'rufus' is red, not 'rutilus'. And when you dive even a little bit into this subject you will find this word is still used in Italian and also as a loanword in English, to describe a GOLDEN mineral with a red TINT called RUTILE. The word that we would use for this in modern language is BLONDE, strawberry BLONDE. Yes, unsurprisingly, the same people that are now blonde with blue eyes, were blonde with blue eyes back then as well! Stop messing with our heritage!
