Sadly alot of Americans will be spending the holidays without family this year too because they lost them to COVID. its very sad but never forget these traditions because these small things can get passed down from generations and their legacy will live on.

  6.  @dps8629  Thats also a good idea! For us since a kid we would always wait till midnight to open all of them. So technically we are opening them on Christmas day but just really early haha The reason we do this is because Jesus was born on Christmas day around midnight and the 3 kings used the Christmas star to lead them to the site where Jesus was born. So we open our gifts at midnight too lol

Yeah this year for the first time in years we didn't spend Christmas for the holidays and just celebrated in our own homes to avoid spreading or getting the virus. But I do agree, no one has ever tried to cancel christmas. We have been allowed to say merry Christmas forever and have never been told not to lol I think he is just creating his own controversy lol so I hope you had a great Navidad and Christmas. Be safe 🙏

  19.  @kyronlewis6975  yeah its something I have always done since I was a kid. So technically we open gifts on Christmas day but midnight on the 24th lol and then on Christmas day we just get together and heat up the food from before and just relax but the main day is the 24th for us

I always thought thats what you call a religious political party group who vote a certain way... what I do know is my mexican culture we open gifts on midnight of the 24th because thats when Jesus was born and the 3 king Wiseman use the "Christmas star" to lead them to Jesus location where they gave him 3 gifts to celebrate his birth. So as Mexicans this is why we celebrate on the 24th and open gifts at midnight leading into Christmas day because of catholic teachings.

  23.  @granzedora  well I'm an American too but as Mexicans living in America we just celebrate Christmas on the eve instead as a tradition. We do this based on our catholic teachings where Jesus was born around midnight of 24th which technically leads to the 24th if that makes sense lol thats why we open gifts and celebrate leading up to midnight

Noche Buena because Jesus was born around midnight and technically the 25th but the 3 Wiseman use the star to find Jesus and give him gifts to celebrate. So thats why we open gifts at midnight and call it noche Buena. Is it the same teachings for you too?

I know many white Americans celebrate Christmas on Christmas day instead and open gifts on Christmas day morning. As Mexicans we celebrate Christmas on the eve with dinner and open gifts on midnight on the eve instead

We celebrate it this way based on out catholic church teaching of Jesus being born on midnight (Dec 25th) but technically its still the 24th. And the 3 Wiseman brought gives to Jesus late night on 24th when Jesus was born on the 25 lol sounds confusing but thats why we celebrate on the 24th and open gifts at midnight lol

  33.  @canoslo6126  yeah thats something I learned that I didn't know of. Alot of people have said that in their German tradition they celebrate very similar to Mexicans. The only difference is we don't have church at midnight and instead open gifts at midnight. And church is the next day
