The first time i experienced racism was when i got my first job. My supervisor said " You know Joaquin, you're a really good worker, i gotta admit when you first started working here i didnt know how good you were gonna be because your shaded." Took me awhile to realize that he was talking about my darker skin color "shaded" I never experienced racism until then and it kept going from there.

Teve Robbs I know what he told me and I heard it very clear. What I'm asking you is what did he mean by that? I mean you want to question everything about my vulnerable experiance by invalidating it but yet YOU do not want to tell me what he meant by saying i was shaded. That doesn't make sense to me. So you're quick to turn down how I felt and dictate my experiance saying it wasn't as I saw it but yet YOU don't want to comment on what he meant by that. Please tell me what he meant

Teve Robbs I know, it really doesnt sound like something that would happen. I couldnt believe it myself, I was shocked. I didnt know how to react because I never experience something like that and it was my first job at 16 years old and didnt want to speak out because i was scared of losing my job. but these are things that fortunately you wont be able to understand unless it happen to you but I do appreciate you hearing my story and listening.

Teve Robbs Well we were indoors for starters and definitely wasnt under a tree. I fully understand what he said because I remember hearing that word really affected me and even till this day I always remember that day. Its like the saying goes "people may forgive you but they will never forget the way you made them feel" and that is why i know he said that because I already remember that moment. When your a darker skin tone calling someone shaded can be a racial slur. Would you know why he used the word shaded? either way, the way i felt , the reference that he used the word, to me was a racial slur, it may not be for you but you're also not in my position to say that something isnt racial for me personally. I do appreciate you hearing my story, but i do find it disrespectful for you to tell me what is or isnt racial for me. I would love to continue this discussion but not if I will continue to be disrespected and made felt like my story is invalid to how I felt and dictating what is racial and what isnt. like i said if you want to continue to have this discussion I do not mind but I ask that you not invalidate an experience that happen to me when i am sharing this story with you.

@nicolepenkwit6530 wow this is insane! Sadly I feel like every minority group has or WILL face some sort of racism or discrimination at some point in their life and it shouldn't be like that.
