I could be wrong but I have a hunch Frey is Belisaire's father, and when a suitable amount of time had passed, he bought Belisaire and his mother to have them near him. I think I can also see a family resemblance in his face. I think the fact that Coralie sold Belisaire after her husband's death points to my hypothesis quite possibly being true.

@kathymcfarland5516 An ancestor of mine famously lived to be 140 years old when she fell from a cherry tree in the family garden.
