As someone who loves history, food, and westerns, I found this fascinating! I love the photo you showed twice, early on showing a close up of the right hand portion, which shows about 5 men by the wall which had a small shelf along it which they were leaning on. The second time you showed it, nearer the end of the video, it was in its entirety. I love the snappy dresser about second from far right, best scarf, waistcoat and even great chapps! He really had a sense of style! Most of the food sounded really tasty. More than I would have expected. Thank you once again for an excellent video.

Yes, that's what I assumed it meant: pike caviar.

@Paperskinglassbones It means Ivory.

P.s. In Norway harđfiskur is called tørrfisk (literally 'dry fish'). I have never had it with butter. I love it just as it is. The boiled sheep's head looks awful but tastes nice. I loooove sweet icelandic rugbrauđ!

In Finland they make a natural tar ice-ceeam, and their ice-cream in general is great and they make lovely rye bread too.

@mikaelorsteinsson1097 That is also made in Denmark and called ølebrød. I wonder if the Danes brought the recipe back from Iceland or took it to Iceland.....i would imagine the latter. Ølebrød is a very Danish thing. It used to be 'peasant food' but as if sometimes the case these days, it is now on the menus of up-market restaurants😄.

@cgohier2000 Pride before the fall....when the people you tell your story to find out the truth, you will look a fool. And they in turn will look like fools to the people THEY tell.

When you started talking about the rolling pin and how emotional he was about it, i immediately assumed it had been his mother's. 🙂

I was wondering if you were going to mention the 'eternity' soup. Was the gelatinous soup you mentioned it? I had understood the soup was liquid although what you say makes sense.

@evernewb2073 Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I had previously understood that it was used on pioneer trails. The reason being that it was not allowed to cool down completely so could be eaten warm and was fast to heat up again and be added to at each new break for food once a fire had been made.

@evernewb2073 Maybe you forgot to click the send button. Or misclicked

@evernewb2073 Sounds annoying. I sympathise. Sometimes my comments don't appear but it doesn't happen often.

Jose de Acosta looks like the American actor Victor Mature!

@danielsimkins290 It's not pedantic to help people learn correct information.

Vårfrudagen can be translated as Lady of the Spring or 'Our Lady ' but written as one word.
