  6. Governor Newsome has a $76 billion budget surplus. Things have really changed since 2009 when the state was facing huge deficits. Let the record show from 1991-1999 and 2003-2011 - California had Republican Governors. Pete Wilson and Arnold ! Newsome should consider new reservoirs, upgrading present ones, and desalinization plants. He wants to give this BACK to the taxpayers. That is likely a big mistake. Invest it in vital infrastructure.

  7. Now is the time to consider rebuilding Oroville into a Concrete dam, replacing the earthen dam. I wonder how many living below it, know that baby is not made from concrete. Yuba City had 8,000 in 1968, now more like 88,000. Would you rather the dam up the valley or street or highway was made of concrete or dirt? There are 7 million living in the flood zone below Oroville.  Ever been to Yuba City?  There are a couple of feeder highways to 5 and a few to the east, but not enough roadway to evacuate the people in 30 hours, much less 30 minutes State of California Office of Disaster Preparedness. published a reported in 2005 on Oroville. If Oroville Dam fails, Yuba City is covered in 78 feet of water in less than 20 minutes. Sacramento will get 44 feet high wall of water in 75 minutes. Unless you own a motorcycle or helicopter, you are going to need to find a tall hill or building to survive that.

  10.  @cavemancavemanog  That is shocking. Someone from the Fess Parker winery in Santa Ynez, told me in 2010, Santa Barbara County had 160 wineries and 120 began after 2000. In large part it has become a sport for rich folks. You rarely hear of a winery going BK. They just trade them to another operator.

  13. There are 650,000 departures in the past years - Some retirees, but mostly low income workers who cannot afford to liven CALIF. There were 450,000 higher income newcomers. The option to work virtual is a big one.  One result is workers are moving to places they want to live, given they are not tied to a physical office anymore. The states benefiting the most are Calif, North Carolina, Washington and Colorado. These are places that people with above average incomes, are moving. There is a new housing project in a technology corridor in San Diego that is far from the most desirable place to live. It is 6-8 miles inland. The developer is building 146 townhomes of 1400-1800 SF on 3400 SF lots. The price range is $899,000- $999,000. This has been bumped twice in 8 months. The normal interest list for this project might be 30-60 names. Today it is 1300. 3 years ago, the developer would be lucky to get $600,000. This will be sold in record time.

The risk assessment team at NASA was comprised of 34 rocket engineers, mathematicians, propulsion experts, pilots, and others. They determined the singular risk per moon mission at 95% chance of total failure. The red line in the sand was a risk no greater than 1/4 of the 1%.  The moon mission adventure would soon end.  After he had spent 5 years working with Stanley Kubrick on the movie - "2001 A Space Odyssey", ( released in April 1968) Arthur C. Clark and Kubrick were close friends. Arthur c. Clark was one of the early pioneers at NASA, created in 1958. Clark and Kubrick are both considered geniuses in their fields. When the call came from Nixon, February 1969, to NASA to see if they could stage a moon landing, as NASA learned in 1968, a real moon mission was impossible. How so ? Russia was 5 years AHEAD of NASA. By 1966 had sent 3 live monkeys into the atmosphere on a rocket to 361 miles. They monkeys all died from massive radiation poisonings. It was 32 times the amount needed to kill a human. NASA was not liking the idea and talked to Arthur C. Clarke who convinced his friend Kubrick to help make the movie. The sound stage and set were still available. Kubrick wanted to make such a movie, but never under false pretenses. He cooperated with Arthur C. Clark and NASA people. Nixon was motivated by distracting attention away form the war. It never worked. Russia then blackmailed Nixon.

  25. I heard they cloud seeded to flood the trails. No idea if this is true. Is there are chance the dry spells are related in any way, to HAARP programs. I have no opinion on the issue.
