  5. Silly comment. There are lots of qualities needed to be an effective Prime Minister. It may be that she possesses many of them but this is by no means obvious at this point in time.

  6. Absolutely right. We need less hyperbole. I am 53 so no doubt this view would be dismissed as old fashioned. Britain is way too hyper compared to how it was only twenty years ago and it shows in almost every aspect of life today. It is not like this in most other countries despite the myopic delusion of most Britons that the culture here is the only possible way everything should be done. Language matters.

  7. They are not necessarily on course to lose the election. Millions will vote for them and their divisive rhetoric works on them. The electoral arithmetic is against Labour, not least because it has lost Scotland. But so what? Labour is a neoliberal party little different to the Tories. Its policies will be largely the same and it has no vision for the betterment of society and the economy. What happened to the ten pledges? The left has been purged so there will be no room for discussion of policy. Just like 1997. Fitting that some of the key figures from the Blair era are back on the scene.

  9. Disagree. Richard Burgon should be leader- he would be excellent. Not going to happen but he is an excellent communicator and is good on policy detail. Very sincere.
