  1. The idea of the end of history is a discredited theory. American triumphalism ( and other nations) at the end of the Cold War led to the disaster capitalism imposed on the former Soviet Union that plunged people into poverty, destabilised the entire system and bred the oligarchs. Communism was bad but the wealth of the Russian people was stolen from them twice over, first by communist dictatorship and then by the criminal gang that moved into the vacuum created by the shock therapy applied to the economy. Putin has been allowed to get away with his actions for twenty years by the west all because of money/ greed. A tiny minority of individuals in the west and Russia have been enriched at the expense of the majority in Russia and the playground for the rich that London and other capitals have become. The Conservative party is up to its neck in this, turning a blind eye to the money laundering in the city of London and accepting donations to its morally bankrupt raison d'etre, to make the rich richer. In the process, Putin has been allowed to destroy the security architecture of post World War Two. Putin has been emboldened by western weakness and now the world stands on the brink of the third world war.
