@Infundibular Well said. Tax is barely spoken about except on the left and even then not much, such is the extent to which it has been neutralised by the right, which is exactly what it needs to maintain inequality in its favour. Roosevelt ( no socialist he but rescuer of capitalism from itself) said he welcomed the hatred of the rich as he set about making them pay their fair share in the New Deal from 1933 onwards. Keynesian tax and spend is the answer, it is not rocket science. Nothing wrong per se with being rich but income inequality cannot be allowed to prop up private affluence at the expense of public squalor. Reduce income inequality as governments did from 1945 to 1979, and people will be broadly satisfied, faith in the political process will be boosted, and political stability can return. What's not to like?

It's the same option- that is the point. Two neoliberal parties not fit for purpose.

@tonycowin Thanks for the patronising response and permission to hold a view. You clearly do not get it- neoliberalism is the source of every single problem since 1979. A Labour Party committed to it has nothing to offer. That's it- a political dead end for any progressive shift in Britain. Nothing less than the reversal of neoliberalism is needed but there is no chance of it with the right of Labour in charge and the left being completely marginalised. Continuing Thatcherism is pointless and will compound the damage done over not just the last 13 years but the last 43. You are welcome to your delusions but don't be surprised when Britain is mired in an even deeper mess presided over by a Starmer government that will fail miserably on so many levels to effect the necessary changes or even begin to do what is needed in its first two to three years. All the answers lie on the left but the abject surrender of Labour to the neoliberal consensus means it has no vision, nothing to offer. Thatcher described 'new' Labour as her greatest achievement- she was right. Starmer is a re-run of the Blair period and the establishment pick to ensure nothing changes.
