Incredibly arrogant for absolutely no reason. Very pleased with himself. I had the misfortune to see a few minutes of an Oxford Union speech he made, which was long on apparently self-deprecating digressions/jokes but short on substance. It is a mystery how he went from the London Assembly to Foreign Secretary.

@Tombola8610 He does not have the ability to be PM, is tetchy and does not like being held to account, all part of the job notwithstanding the poor quality of media questioning. The Tory party is split and Johnson supporters will work relentlessly to undermine him. The degree to which this will happen remains to be seen because he has angered many of them by suddenly pulling out of the leadership. They are deluded anyway but Johnson's hopes of returning are over. Reports say he was telling MPs he rang up to garner support that Sunak would be caught up in the Privileges Committee enquiry. Hopefully the voters of Uxbridge will vote him out if a by election results from the findings of the committee. Sunak cannot unite the Tory party and will be trying to ensure he can get legislation through parliament. With a majority of 71 and the risk of Tory MPs voting against the government on different issues this might mean a GE has to happen if government grinds to a halt by virtue of this. He will be firefighting all over the place and his premiership is likely to be relatively brief. He only has to serve 45 days to avoid being the shortest serving PM in history!

@Tombola8610 Labour is no panacea and has more than its fair share of arrogant careerists but the hope has to be that there are enough decent MPs and party members to keep the party honest and moral in office if it forms a government. The sooner this utterly disgraceful government goes the better. The British frequently denigrate other countries from the culture to how they are governed but as a nation it needs to grow up and get serious about the economy and society that we live in. The attitudes and arrogance of the politicians in Britain is surely a big part of the problem because too many of the politicians are blusterers and chancers. We all pay the price.

@Tombola8610 Indeed. Now the Tories are scrambling to justify a stitch up choosing the next PM within a week. Constitutionally they can justify it with a 71 majority but morally they have no mandate. No Labour leader has changed more than once while still in office either. The Tories are carrying on like this is a game. To them it is but the real world consequences are so serious in the medium and long term. The damage they have caused is unreal.
