  1. One off payments being mooted for health and education. Don't be surprised if the unions cave in to this bribe showing they are obviously not serious about proper pay. They have led members up the hill to strike action having failed to negotiate decent pay for well over a decade and now look set to back down at the first opportunity. It is not compromise to accept paltry pay deals- it is weakness and failure. The NEU wants members to vote for strike action which would result in a pay deal close to what the pay review body has recommended and government accepted in full. The sticking point is government will not fund it all, meaning schools would have to make redundancies to pay for it. That is for the union to tackle in talks with government and not justification for strike action that will result in little to no gain. The teaching unions have stood by for over a decade while pay has decreased by 24%. Cart before the horse, too little, too late.
