Comments by "80s Music" (@eightiesmusic1984) on "Suella Braverman's pathetic response to criticism following damning report into police misconduct" video.
Compared to Braverman anyone sounds intelligent and across the detail. But Cooper is a lightweight politician from the Labour right, which means that if it forms a government to continue the same policies as the Tories, she will no doubt be rewarded with high office. The calibre of the front bench is very weak with a small number of exceptions, which should worry anyone who is anticipating a Labour administration.

@starmersbarber Let me help you out although if you had any perspective you would not need to ask the question. In 1997 a number of Labour shadow cabinet politicians were major players with large followings and massive public profiles, such as Jack Straw, Mo Mowlam. Harriet Harman and Robin Cook. IPSOS has done polling in recent years about the impact of those who hold portfolios for the incumbent government or opposition. Labour's ratings have been poor. Few of the curent shadow cabinet have made an impact with the public in their role. Many voters are disillusioned with the Tories but corresponding enthusiasm for Labour is absent. It has no vision for the good society and most of its politicians are barely known to the public.

@rowancrew2934 Depends how you define lightweight and where you are on the political spectrum. If you think the Starmer project is the answer to Britain's problems then shadow cabinet members like Cooper and others will meet your approval. On the other hand, if you think the same neoliberal policies under Labour will fail to reduce inequality and fix the economy and society and that the purge of the left by Starmer is fundamentally wrong, then the calibre of the front bench is very much open to being questioned.
