  1. I’m probably just singing with the choir here but just wanted to say how much I’ve appreciated your frank and informative videos. I don’t watch mainstream news but after spending time with my elderly parents who always have it on, I was struck by the contrast of all the doom and gloom around Covid compared to your more down to earth, factual presentations. Given how much stress and anxiety affects our physical health, I think these news services should be absolutely ashamed of themselves and I was able to share with my parents some of the things I’ve learnt from your channel that they’re not getting from the crap on tv.

  2. My wife got it earlier this year and I had to isolate with her - didn’t even try to keep my distance, just figured oh well I’ll get it too. But I didn’t. But then a month ago I did get it. Different mutation maybe? Or a bit run down? Who knows. But for a while there I assumed I was one of the lucky ones that was immune - I was wrong about that. Although it has to be said it wasn’t that bad.

  3. The overarching question here for me is why are we vaccinating kids in the first place? Correct me if I'm wrong but they aren't really at risk of ending up in hospital so why?? It just makes no sense to me. And yet I see parents panicking that their kids aren't vaccinated yet. To me it seems that they are being driven by fear or the desire to be seen to do the right thing - but where is the scientific evidence that kids need vaccines for Covid? This is a genuine question, not trying to be inflammatory. I just don't get it. As for the side effects being rare ... yeah, I don't think they're that rare.

  4. I would like to see this too. From what I can gather, the 2% reduction in gray matter was only in some cases, not all (but I haven’t been able to find out what that percentage was). Also, it’s unclear to me whether those studied had caught the earlier Covid variants or Omicron. I’ve had a slight pain above my eye since getting Covid which concerns me so I’d like to know more as well.

  5.  @melbilla  There are plenty of us who understand, especially the insanity of parents vaccinating their kids for a virus they have next to no chance of getting sick from. I know what you mean though about the abuse. I follow the science as much as I can and some of the official "health advice" seems to be a direct contradiction but the sideways looks I get - and even aggression - when I bring that up with people makes me not want to talk about it. People have been brainwashed, I really believe that.

  6.  @udishomer5852  I was exposed to Omicron and had no symptoms. Do I need booster shots? I don’t think so. So getting myself jabbed for no reason, feeling like crap for a day, possible heart inflammation, unknown long term side effects - I’d call that a downside.

  7. I had the same thing happen. My wife got Omicron and had mild symptoms for three days (one bad day with a migraine but otherwise nothing unlike a cold). I had no symptoms. Presumably we both picked up the virus and our immune systems dealt with it efficiently - as it's designed to do. I know one thing, I won't be rushing out to get a booster and I don't care who tells me I need it. Not gonna happen! Good on you for not succumbing to the fear mongering. I really believe this thing will end when people realise their fear is irrational response to media manipulation.

  9.  @jonmcdevitt the vast majority won’t have any issues. There’s a lot of fear mongering, especially with this crowd. The reality is people getting illnesses might be caused by Covid, might be the jab or it might just be because people do get sick regardless. Personally I stay away from boosters because I reacted badly to my 2nd jab and I’m not high risk. I think people should do what’s right for their own bodies and not pay too much attention to fear mongering on either side of the debate.

  10.  @DerekF-u7e  Most people are pro-vaccine because the data is pretty clear that they're the most effective way of keeping you out of hospital. Personally I would have preferred a safer option like a traditional protein-based vaccine but unfortunately that wasn't on offer. I don't think anyone should be forced into it though.

  11. She disagreed with him over a video he did on Ivermectin and he subsequently booted her off his channel. He now lives rent free in her head while she makes videos for her channel, mostly devoted to bringing him down. I actually think she's probably right in a lot of her criticisms - and I say that as someone who held JC in fairly high regard at one point - but her channel and her followers are super-toxic. It's basically one big mud-slinging fest, fueled by egotistic vax cultists, masquerading as a science channel.

  12. Hmm that's a rather generous assessment. I'm not sure that her motivations are all that altruistic - there are plenty of people promoting anti-vax sentiments that she could make videos on and yet she seems weirdly fixated on John Campbell. Given that he turfed her off his channel, I think it's more likely that what she is actually compelled by is a sense of personal bitterness towards him.

  13.  @Joem2648  She has a loyal band of followers who scout the comment forums looking for people to put down to feed their shallow egos - which she clearly encourages (and joins in on at times). And yes some of the people who comment are arguably trolls or conspiracy nuts looking for a slanging match but there are lots of people who simply have concerns with aspects of MRNA vaccine production and the way it was rolled out, etc. They are also targeted and insulted. You only have to look at the video titles and comments on any one of her videos to see the rampant toxicity. It's just a bit sad and pathetic really. If she wants to have a science channel, great - make it about science and leave all the condescending vitriol for people with differing opinions out of it. I would have a lot more respect for her if she did that.

  14. Jack, I wish my parents would turn off the news. They are older so in your more traditional free-to-air news watching demographic. I try to tell them that it's pure fear mongering and I end up feeling like a conspiracy theorist and wishing I'd never said anything. It saddens me that so many people have been driven to a state of panic unnecessarily.

  15. I'm no doctor but if this new variant is replacing delta like they say and the likelihood is you'll get mild symptoms similar to a cold, I'd be seriously weighing up whether it's worth getting a vaccine for it, especially when there's no long term safety data on it.

  21. It would be nice if Australians could believe anything Scott Morrison says but the truth is he is all talk and in my opinion an ineffectual leader. Originally he said vaccinations would be a choice and there would be no mandates. That didn't really pan out (ok, technically you have a choice if you're happy with being a social outcast and losing your job - some choice that is!). Then he was saying it's time for governments to back off - that was a couple of months back and we're still being told what to do by state governments. I've come to the conclusion that he just says what he thinks people want to hear - and with an election looming, it's obvious that this is a response to the fact that many Australians are opposed to mandates and segregation.

  22. It makes absolutely no sense until you follow the money trail, sadly. And yet I see politicians spruiking the idea and parents panicking because they haven't been able to get their kids jabbed. It's insane. I questioned a friend of mine who was proudly posting pictures of her kids on Facebook after being injected about why she did it when there is no medical or scientific precedent for it (as politely as I could) and she said it was to protect the vulnerable and to protect against future variants. Neither of her reasons were based on any evidence that I can see. I can only assume parents do this either out of irrational fear or out of a desire to be seen to do the right thing.

There are many so-called misinformation spreaders out there that she could be fact checking but she appears to have a weird fixation on John specifically. Her channel is a toxic cesspool vilifying anyone who even slightly questions any aspect of covid vaccines and she encourages spiteful comments from her little menagerie of sycophantic followers. I wouldn't have an issue with her if her "Back to the Science" channel was actually about science but it's not, it's clearly an ego-fueled revenge project against John Campbell for kicking her off his channel and an attempt to smear and belittle anyone who dares to question the mainstream covid narrative.

  24.  @hi0u91e9  Generally it seems like JC omits relevant information that doesn't support his, let's say, anti-establishment predisposition. Susan has pointed out many examples of this, as have plenty of others. If it was once in a blue moon I might be inclined to put it down to an honest mistake but I can't help coming to the conclusion that he is pandering to his audience. I can't give you specific examples but they're out there if you take the time to look. So that's why I don't follow him anymore. During the height of the pandemic I found his calm approach a welcome respite from the hysterical fear mongering in the mainstream media. This was particularly evident during the emergence of Omicron, which John correctly reported as a less harmful variant while the mainstream media continued their frenzied alarmist approach. Unfortunately he seems to be following a less reasoned narrative now. That said, I personally find Susan grating and her followers are even worse. I've actually been banned from commenting on her channel for some reason, not sure why. I don't think she likes criticism very much. I think her channel is basically there to poke fun at and belittle anyone who questions Covid vaccines plus she clearly has an unhealthy fixation with John and I find all of that distasteful. For a channel that is supposedly about science, she should at least attempt to remain impartial. But whether I like her not, she has a right to express her views, as does John. But I think they should be seen as being at polar opposite ends of an issue and the truth is probably somewhere in between.

  25. Well it’s hardly a surprise. The amount of people I’ve heard about, some of them I know personally, who’ve had horrible reactions made me think right away that this “completely safe” vaccine was potentially dangerous for some people. And yet when I dared to suggest that it’s safety was questionable I’d get sideways glances or even open hostility. So I just shut up about it, probably like many others.

  33.  @kurts6278  yeah I can see that you’re a reasonable person and I have felt for a long time now that rational discourse should be encouraged on both sides, rather than just shutting people down and labeling them conspiracy theorists if they don’t go along with the mainstream narrative. There’s a lot of things to do with the vaccine rollouts that to me, and to many others (including Dr Campbell it would seem) simply don’t make sense. And I’m firmly of the belief that the response has less to do with health than it does about massive profits being made by pharmaceutical companies in collusion with governments interfering with bodily autonomy and mainstream media inducing a climate of fear and compliance. It’s only in those terms that things start to add up. If that makes me a conspiracy theorist then so be it.

  34.  @kurts6278  Looking at it rationally, I think they are safe enough for most people, at least short term. But there is a risk and most of us have heard stories about people getting horrible side effects. I personally know someone who got a booster and has since suffered from extreme fatigue and loss of motor-function in her arms. This has been going on for over a month since her injection. I know of another case of a young girl here where I live who acquired ticks and can't control the movement in her arms ever since getting vaccinated. Doctors are at a loss to know how to help her. I know of several other cases, enough to make me think that this is not entirely uncommon even though it would appear to be taboo for mainstream media to talk about. This stuff isn't normal, you don't hear about this sort of thing happening with other vaccines! Maybe it's because so many more people are getting them that the number of people with side effects goes up as a result, but still it's clear that for some people they aren't particularly safe. And that's not mentioning the known instances of heart problems. And long term effects of repeated doses - who knows what that might be doing? No one does because the studies haven't been made, we just cross our fingers and hope for the best. And putting faith in pharmaceutical companies who are clearly all about profits .. only a fool would think they have the health and well being of humanity at their core. Again, I don't have a problem with vaccines or any person choosing to get one if they feel they are at significant risk of serious symptomatic illness but given the risks of complications, however small they might be, forcing it on people who don't want it is just plain wrong and honestly it amazes me how many people are so accepting of it. I really think fear has hypnotized many people into a state of irrational compliance and I think it's sad that this happened so rapidly, even sadder that some people have been so eager to attack others just for wanting to make their own decisions. Edit : I'm not accusing you of attacking others but I've seen that behavior from many others, even someone who I once considered a friend.

  35. As far as the “medical procedure that shall not be named” goes, I certainly don’t think they are as safe as we were told, nor do they appear to really be doing anything. Yet now they’re trying to con parents into giving it to toddlers. It’s absolutely insane. But whether they are causing excess deaths, that’s inconclusive. However you shouldn’t underestimate the impact of stress and anxiety on the global population.

  45. I don't think that's generally advisable but if you are under 65 and have no significant health problems then chances are you'll be fine and afterwards you will have an immune system primed to protect you against future infections.

  49. I would say it’s a combination of factors. Stress and anxiety takes a huge toll on a persons physical health. It may also be as-yet unknown side effects from getting Covid. It could be related to vaccines. The point is we don’t know.
