My wife got it earlier this year and I had to isolate with her - didn’t even try to keep my distance, just figured oh well I’ll get it too. But I didn’t. But then a month ago I did get it. Different mutation maybe? Or a bit run down? Who knows. But for a while there I assumed I was one of the lucky ones that was immune - I was wrong about that. Although it has to be said it wasn’t that bad.

I would like to see this too. From what I can gather, the 2% reduction in gray matter was only in some cases, not all (but I haven’t been able to find out what that percentage was). Also, it’s unclear to me whether those studied had caught the earlier Covid variants or Omicron. I’ve had a slight pain above my eye since getting Covid which concerns me so I’d like to know more as well.

Yeah, my father in law passed away suddenly a year ago at 79 and I have thought, 'well done mate, you checked out at a good time'. The world has become a seemingly dark and sinister place. Maybe it's always been like that, it just wasn't so obvious. My advice, for what it's worth, if you are finding all of this hard to bear, do things that take your mind off the world. For me that's going for a walk and playing music. And find people in real life that you can talk to. Personally I find reading comments from the online community can be equally alarming - and possibly alarmist. I find that a digital detox now and then is helpful. I think it's also worth bearing in mind that we have become somewhat soft in the modern era because we're not used to potentially deadly viruses circulating around. In the middle of last century and before, it was not uncommon for people to die young from various illnesses that nowadays we don't have to worry about. People had large families with the understanding that one or two kids probably wouldn't make it past 5. That was just normal life - unthinkable now.
