  8. The thing is with the Spanish Flu and even other diseases we had fairly recently, people back then were used to people dying. If you made it to old age then you were lucky. Now it’s expected. We’re just not used to being afraid of these sorts of things.

  11. Benjamine Hester you can believe you what you want but no one has ever said earth is literally pear shaped. It was meant as an analogy to describe Earth’s very slight oblateness. Even in the interview with Neil Degrass Tyson, which is the source of the whole pear comment, he specifically said, “on a cosmic scale, Earth is a perfect sphere”. So really I don’t know why people get so hung up on the pear thing.

  12. That's actually more likely a fish-eye effect. I'm not a flat earther but there's no way you'd see that much curvature from that altitude so this is not a solid debunking effort.

  15. On a remote beach in Tasmania there are these things called petroglyphs that are said to be the oldest human artworks ever discovered and they are completely unguarded. The only protection they have is that most people don’t know where to find them. That didn’t stop some dickhead etching smiley faces into them though. Unbelievable how stupid some people can be.

  17. I’m not an expert on this, just want to make that clear, but to me it’s pretty simple - don’t eat processed junk food, drink more water and, most importantly, watch your portion sizes. Obesity pretty much just comes down to eating too much. If you’re stuffing your face when you’re not even hungry then you’re going to get fat and the fatter you get the more food you have to keep shovelling in. If you can’t be bothered counting calories then just follow that simple plan and chances are you’ll lose weight. And exercise is good for your general health but you have to do a hell of a lot of it to burn fat so if weight loss is your primary gain, just eat less and eat healthily.

And even then, you'd need to be a lead engineer otherwise these details just wouldn't be relevant to you - and I'm going to guess you're not in that sort of role.
