  6. Benjamine Hester you can believe you what you want but no one has ever said earth is literally pear shaped. It was meant as an analogy to describe Earth’s very slight oblateness. Even in the interview with Neil Degrass Tyson, which is the source of the whole pear comment, he specifically said, “on a cosmic scale, Earth is a perfect sphere”. So really I don’t know why people get so hung up on the pear thing.

  11.  @benjialbert3317  You do realise you'd have to be working on a massive structure in order for Earth's curvature to be taken into account don't you? And even then, you'd need to be a lead engineer otherwise these details just wouldn't be relevant to you - and I'm going to guess you're not in that sort of role.
