  1. In terms of scare factor the remake is superior but in terms of plot/social commentary then the original is the best. I've seen a number of top 10 zombie movies lists and the ones that usually make number 1 are Night of the Living Dead, the original Dawn of the Dead, and the 2004 remake (I've seen bits of the first 2 and all of the remake, the remake scared me a lot more than any other zombie movie that I've seen because they could run (they are zombies cause in the movie it is confirmed that the creatures are deceased) and the zombie baby birth scene)).
