  2. No, the ones from the remake are definitely dead, it's pretty much confirmed in the scenes where they turned (the fat lady and Anna's husband are prime examples of that). As for the reason for why they are able to run like sprinters, maybe the virus slows down decomposition or prevents rigor mortis from occurring?
