They also forgot to mention that Vesuvius is considered one of if not the most dangerous volcano in the world

+malik arsyad I did, what I meant that Vesuvius is the most dangerous volcano because of its history of violent eruptions and the fact that it has the largest population of people in its red zone out of any volcano on earth. There are around 3 million people (both near the volcano and in Naples) living within striking distance of Vesuvius. Considering the poor construction of the buildings in that area regarding earthquake durability (which would choke off evacuation should vesuvius start to act up), Vesuvius could easily exceed all of the other eruptions on this list in terms of death toll
2
+malik arsyad and the possibility of that happening is very real considering that Vesuvius has Pompeii sized eruptions about every 2 thousand years or so. Vesuvius is also overdue since it tends to erupt on average of every 64-68 since 79 AD and the fact has been more than 70 years since the last eruption (during 1944) means that the next one may be a big one

+Adam The Gamer and it will be a very bad day for the Bay of Naples when that happens
2
+Adam The Gamer campi flegri poses the same threat as Vesuvius
2
+Arthion Thera hasn't had a major eruption in a long time but it likely isn't ready for another one
2
Derek Wall that’s actually an 8 point scale, 8 being a super volcanic eruption

Stephen Turipa Tambora is the deadliest volcanic eruption in recorded history but Mount Vesuvius might actually break that record in the future since 2-3 million people live in its danger zone
1
Bahamut Cat because Vesuvius has the potential to kill far more people than Tambora did. If Vesuvius were to have an eruption of a similar size to the Pompeii eruption it could kill up to 3 million people (which would make it the deadliest eruption in human history and one of the deadliest natural disasters in human history)
1
Bijak R A it didn’t kill anyone, all of the eruptions on this list killed hundreds of people or more
1
atomcraft New Zealand was uninhabited at the time of both the Hatepe and Oruanui eruptions
1
The Guy and Vesuvius has the very real possibility of become the deadliest volcanic eruption (short of a super volcano) in human history, another Pompeii sized eruption at Vesuvius could kill hundreds of thousands of people and possibly even millions
1
Lobstertainment that or the Fish Canyon Tuff eruption at La Garita around 26 million years ago, it was one of the most energetic explosive eruptions to ever occur in earths history
1
Alicia Wingard The Lake Toba super volcano is actually larger than Yellowstone is. The last eruption at Lake Toba was larger than the last 3 eruptions from Yellowstone
1
Gavi Gorman Toba was the largest in the past 25 million years, the Siberian Traps was FAR larger than either Yellowstone or Toba (the Siberian Traps is one of the largest volcanic events to occur in the last 500 million years and played a part in the worst mass extinction event that the world has ever seen)
1
Kuntianien - Geometry Dash and More! Wah Wah wouldn’t have killed any people because humans weren’t around when that eruption occurred (same for the Fish Canyon Tuff eruption). There have been only 2 super volcanic eruptions during the time that modern humans have been on earth and Toba was the one that happened closer to the time when humans almost became extinct (wether or not the Toba eruption was the cause of our near extinction is debatable though). Wah Wah might’ve been the largest known explosive eruption but it’s not the largest volcanic eruption to ever occur, the largest form of volcanism that occurs on earth is actually Flood Basalts (I’m talking the truly gigantic ones like the Siberian Traps)
1
ThatRandomBeast unless flood basalts act like a giant sized version of Kilauea (aka erupting continuously for years). I doubt that flood basalt eruptions completely stop when the area is still active (meaning that while the eruption may stop in one area it could still be erupting further along the rift)
1
ThatRandomBeast that would probably differ between each flood basalt event
