  1. I wouldn’t say that Grant was the only hero of the Civil War, there’s also Sherman. Sherman was a close friend of Grant who scored two massive victories for the Union, taking Atlanta which secured Lincoln’s reelection and taking Savannah, sealing the fate of the confederacy.
