  1. I think the Ukrainian government sat for a while before okay'ing this approach, specifically to contrast their approach to Russia. If Ukraine came out shouting "We'll be in Moscow before christmas" people would look at them as a 'Russia-light' in terms of truthfulness. Ukraine does lie in numbers of kills claimed, certainly, but it's extremely important for them to be considered at least somewhat truthful. What you see now in Gaza is that nobody gives a toss because we know Hamas lies on a huge scale but a lot of people no longer trust Israel as long as it's under Netanyahu, courtesy of a decade of lying and conniving, while underneath the Israeli data is either outright true, or a best guesstimate. That's killing because right now it means they're on a clock of just a few weeks in which to roll up Hamas before support for their defensive war against Hamas collapses.
