I've just realised, one day, in the year 2100, some random Chinese kid will laugh about TSMCs 2nm tech, thinking about how ancient it is.

China is inexperienced in semiconductor development. The US sanctions and the corruption fund failure really gives China guidance in what works and what doesn't.
13
When it comes to China catching up in semiconductors, it's also important to remember that silicon chips are reaching their physical limits and cannot shrink at the pace of before. China can capitalize on this and maybe jump the gun to developing next gen chips, if the industry moves away from EUV.
11
@adameordogh3065 that's the old excuse. "Oh they just copied it". Zeihan made a video on this phone, you belong there.
9
☝️ "Chinese bots" "Wumaos" 🤓
9
Nope, China's technology is progressing well
7
@theguy8412 The bottom line is, the leading edge of semiconductor development and manufacturing is slowing down due to the laws of physics. If anything, it just gives China time to catch up whilst the leading edge struggles to move to each progression of shrinkage.
6
There is always that old guy who brings up china's education system and how it stops innovation. Don't give me your experiences or observations, look around, china is innovating technology left right and center, and no it's not just stealing.
6
It's because the US did everything they could to stop China from progressing technologically. People were talking about how Chinese chips were sent back to the stone age. This chipset proves them completely wrong. The chipset is still behind it's Taiwanese and western standards, but US restrictions failed miserably.
6
After WW2, was West German technology advanced? After the war, the West German economy grew well, but in terms of technology like computers, were the west Germans advanced and competitive?
5
Huawei has just filed an EUV patent and has made breakthroughs in EUV optimisation. Realistically, a lot of this is just hype, but if it has got something going for it, this could be huge for China.
5
Sorry, but they do.
5
@Shanesong11 Lol, showed off your potent grammar skills with they one
5
Is it true working in a fab is stressful, low pay and simply not worth it?
5
@JohnyPaprikas Yet it shows how the Chinese decimated the US chip restrictions. If the roles were reversed, and the US managed this breakthrough, you'd be praising it non stop 🤦♂️
5
Could you do a video about Biden's new China chip restrictions? How will they effect the world and is China lost behind forever because of it?
4
Who gave their grandpa a smartphone last Christmas?
4
Could you do a video on China semiconductor industry corruption crackdown. Seems like China is getting serious about semiconductor progress
4
@melvinch Yeah, many people say that, but I'm hesitant to just assume that China's done and there's nothing they can do about it. That attitude is usually adopted by people who are just anti-China, but EVERYONE who says that genuinely believes that they are right. After, they usually say "because they are right" 😂😂
4
No, china wanted to annex Taiwan long before TSMC became chip superpower. It's more political and strategic
4
Lol, there's always the people that yap about china copying and stealing
4
China's new "whole nation" seems much more domestic innovation driven.
4
Seeing the channels you watch, I'm not surprised you struggle to comprehend the truth. "IT'S COPIED 😭😭"
4
@Shanesong11 I don't need your knowledge. Time already has. China can self sufficiently make chips up to 7nm.
4
If you genuinely believe that then there's no point debating...
3
Can someone tell me what's going on with China's semiconductor industry? Have they already lost the chip war, because there are no new developments and the US sanctions are piling up. Has China already lost? Has the US already won?
3
Nervous Nancy is going nuclear
3
In the next 5 to 10 years, I think China's chip industry will be very well paid and have very good working conditions and hours. This is because of China's growing chip worker shortage. And the Chinese government are making chips and technology their first priority. Unlike the US, increasing wages and standards of working won't be much of a hassle due to the fact that in China, rich businessman and corrupt CEOs don't have nearly as much power as in the US.
3
It ain't 2010 buddy, China doesn't just "copy" anymore. Most people struggle with changing realities, especially when it's something they don't like huh.

Video on US chip restrictions on China and how China will try and get around them?
3
Can you do a video on US chip restrictions?
3
Would love to see a video on Chinese AI. Recently, they've started construction on a new dam using only robots and drones. Obviously, this is probably hyped up to some extent, but the way it seems? China Wants AI to become a fundamental part of the country.
3
@Shanesong11 Lol yeah right, you know nothing.
3
@Shanesong11 OK lol, throw a tantrum, I'll be watching Shane boy
3
A video on China's current situation would be great. They are trying to bypass US restrictions with graphene, photonics or other chemical processes
3
@wakannnai1 If its a carbon copy of TSMC, then so be it. As long as they've learnt the know how
3
Why can't we just have AI design chips and have AI robotics replace humans in the manufacturing of chips.
2
@adameordogh3065 There's a difference between admitting China copied some technology and trying to deny them any of their legitimate progress.
2
It takes years to perfect it.
2
Still waiting?
2
keep scrolling dawg this shit aint for you 😂
2
Peter Zeihan makes money from predicting the collapse of China and denying they are doing anything well. Asianometry actually knows a LOT of things semiconductor-related.
2
Is it true that software engineering and anything to do with technology leaves you with no free time such as gym or relaxation?
2
@BIGFOOOOOT How much free time do you have during the week then? I am confused about what job I shall persue after I'm done with high education
2
Yes. It's not going to catch up with Taiwan soon, but significant progress from the Chinese is only inevitable.
2
This is exactly what China is doing. Merging civilian and military techs.

anglohan5428 Hard ratio lil bro 🤫
2
Xi Jinping has just told the CCP high ranking politburo that the countries main focus and priorities will be development, innovation and self sufficiency in high tech fields, such as: - semiconductor chips - artificial intelligence (AI) - robotics - high level computing - space technology
2
Some people think it will completely destroy China, some think it won't matter. The truth is someone in the middle
2
It's going to years to perfect the extraction of rare earths. Besides, these restrictions are a warning shot. China still has many big cards it has up it's sleeve
2
@aguiscard2452 The demographic crisis would be much averted if China managed to raise worker productivity. The key to that is technology, computerization and innovation which makes semiconductors even more important.
2
Someone from the 1970s would not be able to predict Chinese demographic crisis with the data that they had, bearing in mind the one child policy wasn't a thing at the time. Now, in the 2020s we are predicting China's demographic collapse and how their population might shrink by 50 or 70 percent by 2100. Do you see what I'm trying to say here? I'm not denying their demographic problems, I'm just pointing out that the data of a certain time is very limited once you go past 10 or 20 years.
2
Video on US chip restrictions?
2
What are the limits of silicon chips? Physics becomes a real barrier for transistors once you start getting even smaller than 2nm. I'm sure innovation will definitely continue, but perhaps slower or in a different way than the last couple decades?
2
So is silicon reaching it's limits? The more I think about it, the I think it could be. If so, will graphene or photonics or something else "replace" silicon?
2
China seems seems to be rapidly developing AI chips instead of normal chips
2
@NaderNabilart Pretty much all countries are having a semiconductor brain drain. China, the US, Taiwan etc.
2
China's already embraced industrialisation and it's probably better than anything India can boast for
2
Blah blah blah, grow up. You are a white adult
1
A video on US chip restrictions on China and how they will impact China's chip, AI and overall technological advances?
1
@Cryptech1010 Don't worry, I'm one step ahead. *China makes breakthrough You: "Nuh uh, it was all stolen technology, t-t-trust me bro 🥺"
1
@efovex I'm not, but you just can't accept the fact that I disagree with you.
1
China has reached 7nm. Obviously people will find faults in this narrative but that's still a huge breakthrough seeing how restricted China is in chip technology

@bradsalz4084 Hey, I'm considering working for the IC industry and I'm running out of time to make a decision. Is it really a good industry to work in? From what I've heard, it's stressful, low pay and long hours. Is it worth it/do you recommend it? Any help would be great 😃
1
it's always the old men of YouTube that yap incoherently. Facebook is more your shit.
1
@wazza33racer take the meds unc and call the kids.
1
@pm China is desperate and has the money. I give them 5 years to catch up to American companies. Another 10 to catch TSMC
1
Check out Endmyopia. This actually slowed my myopia progression dramatically. It seems weird and takes a while to get going, but I'd say it's worth a try, especially if you are an adult.
1
@henrytep8884 That's the thing, I'm hesitant to believe that China has already lost, yet I am aware of the huge tech gap between the west and China. China hasn't reacted yet to the US chip sanctions and I'm not surprised. It will take time for the Chinese to plan their response. Recent reports come out that Chinese scientists and the CCP have planned out their long term technology strategy, however like all communist dictatorships, I wouldn't expect the plan to be released in full detail. When Sputnik was first launched, the US public is completely demoralised and it was almost certain that the USSR would have dominance in space. A decade later Neil lands on the moon. Just shows how things can change even if it doesn't seem like it.
1
@BIGFOOOOOT Ok thanks 👍
1
Lol Pete, you know shit kid
1
@endutubecensorship You definitely know nothing about china and their military. Add that with your intake of propaganda and you can't possibly take the truth....
1
@endutubecensorship People like you only focus on what you think is a "copy". You'd cry if you put away the propaganda and read pentagon's reports on China's innovation. But obviously you know more than the Pentagon right :)
1
On one hand, you've got the people who think China will catch up in 5 years. Then you've got people like Zeihan. The truth is in the middle if you ask me.
1
@Grak70 The problem is it will be too late for the west to react if they do eventually see it. The best way to compete with China is not to wait and see if they are successful or not.
1
@Solid_Snake99 But it just isn't though. It was 10 years ago.
1
China semiconductor autonomous technology photonic chips chips chips chips chips Chinese chips photonics surpass the US chinese technology chips Huawei EUV for short term photonics siuuuuuuuu

I believe an ageing population's negative effect on innovation is largely overstated. Having more youth does not necessarily mean more technological and economic innovation, however a well educated youth will almost certainly be a huge source of innovation. Decent education is better for innovation than just a young population. Also, as a population ages, there's more room for technological innovations that can help the elderly and the country. Young demographics is a huge boost and is necessary for strong, consistent growth, however when it comes to innovation strong education for the youth matter more.
1
Lol, fat chance

Serpentza has never been the most reliable source on Chinese related affairs. Even his subreddit ADVChina admit that his videos are sensationalist and his audience harasses anyone that tries to call him out.

In short, the semiconductor industry is rubbish and you shouldn't even consider working for it. Such a shame to see an important industry with such crap working conditions
1
Photonic chips or maybe even graphene, the chips of today could definitely be leapfrogged by other chips with other processes
1
Video on US chip restrictions on China?
1
To be honest, I'd like to see another simpler video about China's chip manufacturing. They are pumping billions into it and those chips are going to power the future of their economy and military.
1
@thegigantico Retards like you know nothing about the semiconductor industry. "B-b-but the chip was made in Taiwan, r-r-right 🥹🥹"
1
Source? I've always believed the Chinese are almost guaranteed to never get EUV? A Chinese EUV machine coming before 2025 would be HUGE

@jkuang Watch out for China's Big Fund Phase Two. That's where the real Chinese chip efforts are going.
