Preston Tucker, who tried to make an automobile, offering tons of opportunity for anybody who would have worked for him, but destroyed by congress, mad a 100mph wheeled tank in his garage to help the WW2 war effort. It was rejected by the Pentagon because it was too fast, (but Patton would have loved a few fleets, as tanks had a 35mph speed limit.). But the government did take his patent on the 360 degree rotating gun turret that we have seen on may military craft. Japan was given 800 billion to rebuild, and Honda was allowed to build a manufacturing dynasty in Japan. I think we really lost WW2, if we were fighting for our liberty and free enterprise, like we were suppose to be doing. When Tucker lost his right to compete in free enterprise with the auto industry,---we all lost that right.
