  18. A really worthwhile discussion. Thank you. In particular, the point made about the responsibility of "oldies" to pass on knowledge. Regrettably, many such people have taken the opportunity to retire early so are no longer in the workplace where they could have an influence. One possible hope for the future is the increasing role of grandparents in the care of the young! We can only hope!

Personally, i see the only way forward is through the further development and enforcement of womens rights to undermine the ancient sexism of some cultures.

  56.  @tamaliaalisjahbana9354  France is a Republic. The French State owns the Churches, not the Pope! The Sovereign in England is God's appointee on Earth under Jesus. The English State does not own or take responsibility for Churches.

  57. Not a question of being arrogant, it is simply the situation that exists. As a secular country, the pope has no direct control over the French state. As owners of the churches and with a declining following (and, increasing competition from other religions) the President has considerable influence over the Catholic church in France. You may wish to research the French laws on land ownership to see what the future may hold.

In Western democracies, the issue is whether an individual's loyalty is to their religion or their country. In Great Britain, the armed forces swear allegiance to the Sovereign who represents the common people of the country. This potentially has caused issues when conflict happens in areas such as the Middle East. Individuals have to make choices and take the consequences of that choice! When countries go to war, servicemen have to be certain of the loyalty of those serving with them. Hitler, Stalin, Saddam and many others required loyalty and took action against those who made certain choices. The future will be interesting, to say the least!

In addition, there are more companies and organisations with their own agendas that are in a position to control national governments. You do know what happened to Thomas Moore....and anyone else that crossed Henry VIII, including a number of his wives and various religious organisations? Mis information to achieve an aim is not new. Muslim Sepoys were told that the cartridges were greased with pork fat, Hindu Sepoys that the cartridges were greased with beef fat. The formula for the grease is on record and did not contain any animal fat!
