  1. Army surplus took 10-15 years to filter through to shops. Have you any idea just how much kit had to be sold off? I was born in 1950 and regularly frequented army surplus stores in the 60s.

  2. I certainly remember Lawrence Corner and Proops along Tottenham Court Road. In Walthamstow there were two places called Jobstocks. General Slim wrote a funny story, Elizabeth succeeded Mary that illustrates the military attitude to equipment.
