Does Ukraine have a "West Point" where they teach young officers tactics??? It doesn't seem like they do to me.

This entire war is a tragedy, so some gallows humor is probably ok to keep our sanity. The part where you talked about the meager supplies getting to AFU and you slipped in the crack about that one guy only missing ammo made me spew my Rum N Coke!!! 😂😂😂

This is a complicated one. Hard to expect a Muslim to join the British army when they are always bombing Muslims. Men from India, Jamaica, Trinidad, etc. at least have a long history of the Queen making her rounds, etc. to feel some sense of Patriotism for England. However the biggest lure is money; pay more and you'll get more. Russia is paying like 4 or 5 times the average annual wage in rural areas, and they got 400,000 recruits last year.

His skin was dark, probably darker than many "black" people; just as there are many people from India with very dark skin. However, his ethnicity was not Sub-Saharan African.

The carnage does not surprise me. Ukrainians and Russians are cousins you can hardly tell them apart. They fought the Mongols, Napoleon, Hitler together and both took horrific losses and kept fighting. Russia will always win because Ukraine will run out of men before Russia does. Simple and obvious two years ago.

Strange after two weeks, very little Ukrainian drone video of Russian tanks and vehicles being hit. Where are all the videos of drones dropping bombs into open hatches? All the FPV video of drones diving into Russian equipment and trenches. I think I've seen all of ONE vid of Ukraine drone observing combat and that was just against a few men in a trench?? The AFU LOVES to post videos of itself; where is it??

To me, this is like saying "the Japanese Navy steamrolled the US Navy at Pearl Harbor". Yes, technically they did, it was a major tactical victory. However there was no honor in it as it was a done before war was declared. At Kursk, NATO secretly changed it's ROE (which RU had abided by for two years), to give Ukraine its chance to strike. Tactical success, but no honor, no glory. Just as at Pearl, the duplicitous one will eventually lose, and lose big...."

Don't even care much anymore... Russia won; by how much doesn't really matter to me personally. NATO just could not get Crimea. If they had, they'd use this as a template for China , Iran and anyone anywhere else.

Ukraine announced yesterday they are building largest military cemetery in possibly the world. At least as large as Arlington National Cemetery in the United States, and the war isn't even over yet. Ukraine is 10% of US population with same size military cemetery. Let that sink in...

This will all get tidied up with F-16. This 47 years old plane will defeat Russia.

They spend 9 weeks learning trench warfare and then get sent to Kursk where there are no trenches. Sounds about Ukrainian...

That is true of every Ukraine article, why should this one be different? 🙂

I knew from many Western articles the Russian pay was high, but they never went into this detail. When you adjust the pay to USD it blows my mind; hell I'm 48 and for a $200K bonus I might cook or drive a truck for three years!!

I'll never understand how the average Ukrainian man could really have thought it was a good idea to try to fight Russia over what really, truly and honestly mostly was going to benefit the United States and United Kingdom (along with NATO in general). The average Ukrainian knows full well Novorossiya and Crimea is 80% Russian-speaking people that identify Russian----its no surprise to them. HOW would the Istanbul Agreement, have hurt the average Ukrainian citizen??? Lands that they weren't using went away, people they didn't know went away, and they could not become a NATO Forward Operating Base in the future. SO FLIPPIN WHAT? They've never been a NATO FOB so what "loss" is there by giving that up? The regions that are now "Russia" are just moving the border of Russia a little closer; their entire lives Russia is just a few hour road trip away. HOW WOULD THEIR LIVES HAVE CHANGED? This "war" was by, for, and about the elites in the EU, US, and Zelensky Nationalist Government. THEY are the only ones who really had anything to gain.

David Axe on Forbes is satire....

For two months?? No way.

What Military Academy do Ukrainian officers go to? Does Ukraine have a "West Point"? Just making sure so that no one I know ever goes there...

God I love watching Russia make NATO (especially the US and UK) look like fools. I grew up watching Rambo movies and hating all things Russian. Now I want nothing more than for Russia to shove its massive Bear pole right up NATOs arse. Life is strange 😂

Ukraine's leaders play a risky game with such obvious displays of callousness towards the lives of their soldiers. When the Italian 8th Army went to Stalingrad, they were very confident in spite of deep shortcomings (that would doom them later). They were destroyed so badly by the Red Army, not due to cowardice, but to poor leadership at every level including Mussolini. When the survivors got home, they were so PO'ed they formed the core of the opposition that later brought down Mussolini.

Russia estimated 30 months for the Special Military Operation so we are just a bit over halfway.

Dam....this kind of detail....wow. We are living in history-making times. Just being a history nerd from age 10, I thought Biden was crazy two years ago to not negotiate. I was like "is he crazy? Does he not know what war on Russia's OWN LAND would be like??" Seeing the ethnic heritage and pride of Russia (ONE OF THE MOST MULTI-ETHNIC NATIONS ON EARTH!), makes strangely happy as I've studied Russian history since I was 20 or so. I know one thing, the West thinks Putin succeeds because he has Russia under some kind of mind control; they convince themselves everything would be different if there were no Putin. Just watch this and tell me if you still think Putin controls his people, or HIS PEOPLE CONTROL PUTIN??
