  1. I saw that strike group with a supercarrier full of planes yesterday and I thought it was a NATO exercise. Then the camera zoomed in and the supercarrier was Chinese, not American. The world isn't changing; the world has changed

  2. In 1984 I read "2010: Odyssey Two" by Arthur C. Clarke, the sequel to "2001: A space Odyssey". In the book the year is 2010 and the world is on the verge of global war (surprise), and the combatants are the US and China, and at one point he mentions a Chinese supercarrier in a battle with the US Navy. In 1984 I found that just as fantastic as the alien life on Europa. Yet, here I am living and the Chinese do, in fact, have (multiple) supercarriers. No life found on Europa yet but after what has already happened I fully expect it to be...."
