When your whole army is made up of the equipment from 30 different countries, and you only have weeks or months to train, it is almost impossible to fight effectively with it. Not even American soldiers could take a German tank, French IFV, British APC and Polish artillery and have it all working together in four months of training. That is impossible. Ukraine cannot depot the American artillery they have for refurbishment because Russia will destroy any such facility as its size would make it impossible to hide. Instead they have to be shipped to Poland to be refurbished then shipped back. Ukraine can make Russia work harder for victory, but that is all---the outcome was never in doubt.

This is almost insane: Ukraine does not have enough guns or ammunition to have done an artillery bombardment all along the line to hide exactly where the thrust will be.   46. The Kh-22/32 missile is named "Storm" in Russian. I always knew it by its NATO name "Kitchen". The Kh-22 is older but they probably have a lot of them in storage. The Kh-32 is newer, same exact body but new engine, longer range, better radar. No matter which, they fly at Mach 4 and Ukraine can't stop them.

The 25th Airmobile (who surrendered en masse over the weekend), and one I didn't know about until today that abandoned their positions in Chaov Yar. Russia's Orlan drone loiters in the sky at will 70 km deep into Ukrainian territory and has been doing so all year long. The new Lancet attack drone now has 80 km range (just look up this week's strike on a Mig-29 70 km from the front). The Abrams' turbine engine will glow like a 4th of July sparkler to the thermal sights of the Ka-52, whose new missiles have 14 km range and are "fire-and-forget", not like the 8 km range ones that required the gunner to maintain lock that were used to decimate AFU at Bradley Square in June. The Orlan (Eagle) got a new targeting system a year ago called "EYE" (get it? EAGLE EYE? 🙂) that directly slaves it to the fire control of any TOS-1A or Tornado-S MLRS, or Krasnopol laser guided 152mm shell, meaning as soon as Orlan spots one, DFA is on the way. If, by some Divine Blessing, an Abrams survives all that to reach the combat line, the Kornet missile will rip it open just like it did the Challenger 2 a couple weeks ago. Both Italy and Hungary sent huge armies into Russia in support of their Wehrmacht allies in WW2. To call it a disaster is an understatement: Both the Italian 8th Army and the Hungarian 2nd Army were decimated so badly by Russia, their defeat so complete, that their governments toppled afterwards. Just last week Putin sided with Shoigu that Wagner must come under Army control (the right decision). Putin chose the "elites" and this is what has set Prigozhin off. Putin is no fool; he knows that once the war is over he cannot have an independent force of 30K to 40K battle-hardened shock troops just sitting around with nothing to do and not under Army jurisdiction. He made a choice, and in doing so gave Prigozhin one: fold your army into the military or be destroyed. Prigozhin just chose....and my guess is Putin already had a "cleanup crew" and plan in place for exactly this situation should it be necessary.

That brigade itself says it has lost half its men and vehicles this year; and has not come off the line in over a year. The rest of AFU has sub-par equipment and little training or are Territorial Units of 45 year old men. They are outgunned 7 or 10 to 1. They have almost no ability to evacuate wounded. All have APFSDS rounds with tungsten or DU penetrators so they are all capable of killing each other. Stealth is the "killer app" Russia lacks. Guaranteed China is watching and learning and both they and Russia will spend huge sums on stealth in the future.
