These missiles are about $2M each but the issue is anything---and I mean anything---above ground in the Separatist Regions is now under threat like it never was before. It probably could hit stationary ships in the Black Sea port of Sevastopol as well. This is a massive escalation; it can't win the war of course, but its presence just increased the costs for Russia by a factor of ten. Imagine the amount of assets Russia will have to either move out of range or protect with more anti-air assets. One cannot overstate the logistics burden this weapon just imposed on Russia---even if they counter it by relocating/defending assets that is a huge amount of resources that would have been used in offensive action.

  4. I don't get this question at all. Iran has sold Russia many Shaheed drones last year as well as licensed Russia to make them---they use moped engines and cost only around $10K each. In return, Iran is getting brand new Su-35's which will allow them to jump three generations in fighter jet capability vs. Israel. He pops the first Ukrainian tank twice, then drills an IFV, the rest stop wondering what is hitting them. The Russian reverses and hits the second Ukrainian tank, blowing its turret off. He then nails the remaining 5 APCs one by one. The mil blogger said it was a T-90M, networked to the drone that was recording the battle; the tank could "see" what the drone could see and that is why the Ukrainians never fired even once as they could not see through the trees at what was hitting them. Ukrainian and Russian princes took the same road to pay their tributes to their Mongol Golden Horde overlords for centuries. They fought and defeated the Wehrmacht together. Now, after 1500 years , a few Nationalists let themselves be convinced by NATO diplomats that they need to be "separate" from Russia. A separation mostly that favors NATO, and they have led their fellow countrymen to disaster as a result. A few months ago Putin said Russia would establish a 15 km "buffer zone" along the border to keep Belgorod and border towns out of range of Ukrainian artillery. ATACMS is fired from the HIMARS launcher, so the launcher Russia has been hunting and destroying for almost a year now is still the weak point. Just last week the latest version of Lancet attack drone hit a Ukrainian Mig-29 almost 80 km from the front line; its max range was previously 40 km and is now unknown. As to the Storm Shadow threat, Russia has moved assets into Belarus to be able to react more quickly to targets in Western Ukraine. Most of AFU remaining air power is as far from Russia as possible. If our mil bloggers can report on YouTube that Mig-31 and Tu-160 are in the air in Russia, NATO has told AFU an hour before; this allows things to be moved before the Kinzhals hit. The arc of history bends towards justice, and there is nothing "just" about US involvement in this war. NATO is a military alliance and like any such organization it exists to destroy its enemies; everything it does is in furtherance of this goal. Convincing Zelensky to accept weapons and do the fighting on NATO's behalf was in the interest of providing a future willing partner in moving US Aegis Ashore missiles, currently in Poland and Romania, closer to Moscow, as well as allowing the US Navy to create a "Black Sea Fleet" based in Crimea. Go look it all up; as late as 2019 US Navy was publicly issuing contracts to expand and refurbish old Soviet-era naval bases in Crimea. With land based missiles and a fleet of warships, both using the Aegis Combat System, and all mere kilometers from Russia's border, Russia would be the United States' slave in all but name. That is why she fights as if her life depends upon it because it DOES. In Zelensky, the US found a willing partner in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to put a noose around Russia's neck and loosen or tighten the knot whenever it pleased.

They better hurry as Russia smells blood in the water in Zaporizhzhia they know Ukraine has spent much of their combat power as there has been large drop in daily AFU activity in that sector. Word is Ukraines is gathering a final fist of 2023 and of course the Russian drone swarm is waiting for them.
