  5. If you were born around 1970, as I was, you can't imagine the disappointment people my generation feel if they were little kids who dreamed of the stars. As a child, everything was possible in terms of aerospace; it was just a matter of time. Everyone wanted to work for NASA or the major aerospace companies of the time. The XB-70 was built and flying in 1964! Even today it looks like a spaceship and it would outperform every non-US aircraft currently in existence. I couldn't wait to fly Concorde, then finally when I could afford to fly on it, time had passed it by. It really is quite sad. OPEC and recession and Globalism was a triple-whammy that halted everything in 1975. By 1980, all the grand visions were cancelled, and 15 years later, the Internet took off and with it a generation of brain power turned away from aerospace. All our smart people go to software or EV companies now; hardly anyone dreams of space. Teenagers aspire to environmental technology, not spaceplanes blasting fossil fuel exhaust into the atmosphere. Nobody cares about this stuff anymore.
