Who knows why Hitler was so fascinated with Iceland, what I do know is that the Reich went much further north and south and east and west, scouring the Earth for ANY indigenous knowledge of mythical lands and advanced technology contained within that they could get their hands on. I would say they succeeded based on the technology that they were developing and how far advanced they were to the "Allies" at the time. If you've never heard of Admiral Richard E Byrd, his knowledge he took with him to his grave, but his son published his diary shortly after his death, he was also a naval officer and subsequently was found dead in an abandoned warehouse in New York in 1988. Going to leave that there but another fact I find perplexing is after the war, it was discovered that over a million German citizens had just vanished. They were not killed or jailed or anything else, they just dropped off the census. .02
